bloggers on bloggers: kendra grant malone is the most benevolent internet writer of all internet writers

kendra grant malone writes letters to her cat. she is also obsessed with tutus, as are all good honest women. kendra grant malone is good and honest. her e-book love your friends and not your lovers consists of a month of excerpts from her personal journals (it contains explicit material; don't click on that link if you are under 25). the e-book is the first thing i ever read by kendra and once i started i was glued to the screen--and not just because of the sex scenes. her writing is bare and tender; never boring because it's never pretentious or conciliatory. and after reading her journals i felt touched by her generous vulnerability. i felt like she was the most benevolent writer i had ever read.

some other online work by kgm that i really like: her two minute mind on everyday yeah (the two minute minds before her were rainn wilson, blake butler and matthew savoca!), her story 15 dollars & 61 cents on 3:AM magazine, her six sentences, and numerous poems on her blog, like this one, this one and this one.

the work by her that i really like best is work that she sent me that isn't online. so you, reader, are pretty much screwed. except if you ask her to send it to you she probably will. she wrote a story with tao lin called "connor oberst sex" that i liked very much. i like kendra and tao's words next to each other. maybe they will write more things and put them next to each other. she also sent me more of her journals, which are filled with beautiful scenes like this one:

"I go downtown and park in a ramp on 9th and Chicago. The ramp leads me into an empty and closed Hospital building. It is beautifully eerie. I leave the building and find myself in a little corner of downtown that I’m not familiar with. It is sunny and temperate outside, with a warmish downtown breeze, which vaguely smells of that comforting and alarming hospital smell. I can hear a soothing and enormous black man’s voice booming on a microphone down the block, coming from a park. I think he is giving an outdoor sermon. The streets are mostly empty here and I get this lovely feeling in my bones. It feels a little like last summer in Brooklyn, when I was wandering alone in strange neighborhoods, being the fetal version of the woman that I turned into this year. That is, the woman that loves to be alone."

there is an addictive quality that is pervasive in all of her writing--once i start reading something by kendra i feel interested and compelled to continue. she is exciting in the way that true emotional connections are exciting: she strips down and delivers her naked heart. she leaves the indelible impression of sweet, honest generosity. you will want to be her best friend.

I'm going to abduct Kendra Grant Malone whoever she is. But don't tell her because I want it to be a big secret.
